World
famous LAKE FORK began construction in 1972. It was
stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass in 1978
and opened in 1980. Modern fishery management efforts
and excellent fish habitat have contributed to making
LAKE FORK known as "the big bass capitol of Texas".
Of the top 50 bass in Texas, 36 have come from LAKE
FORK, one of the most premier trophy bass lakes in
the U.S.
LAKE FORK covers almost 28,000 acres or 43 square
miles. Most is flooded timber, (a good reason to hire
a guide!). The two main arms are about 12 miles each
in length, with many creeks and coves, encompassing
315 miles of shoreline.
LAKE FORK reservoir is located about 100 miles east
of Dallas and west of Shreveport, La. It is located
in the beautiful rolling hills of east Texas, with
many oaks, pines and wildflowers.
