World famous LAKE FORK began construction in 1972. It was stocked with Florida strain largemouth bass in 1978 and opened in 1980. Modern fishery management efforts and excellent fish habitat have contributed to making LAKE FORK known as "the big bass capitol of Texas". Of the top 50 bass in Texas, 36 have come from LAKE FORK, one of the most premier trophy bass lakes in the U.S.

Lake Fork Fishing Report

This week on Lake Fork the water level is 6 feet low and the water temp. is 80 to mid 90. the fish are schooling and can be caught with top water shad baits like the baby Zara spook and on swim baits and bass assassins allowed to fall through the fish and twitched occasionally. the deep bite is on spoons and C-rigs with a watermelon plastic like a fluke. Texas rigged worms are also on and a standard in the summer. Shakey heads also catching fish. Most of our fish are structure oriented with creek channels and humps most productive. With the absence of Hydrilla the wood is the go to cover.
Be careful running a boat as there are obstructions every where. With a cool down in the forecast I would expect the bite to really pick up as it has been so so and off and on but persistence will pay off. Mostly good slot fish now. but the big fish bite is not far away. Now is the time to book your fall trip so you can get in on the big bite when it starts.
I am now only fishing half days due to the heat. When the heat is on start drinking water early as you can't catch up after dehydration starts to set in.
